Miltos Yerolemou Joins Con of Thrones 2023 as Special Guest!
Fan-favorite Game of Thrones actor Miltos Yerolemou, who won acclaim for his role as Syrio Forel, Arya Stark’s Water Dancing instructor in season one, returns to Con of Thrones, the premier unofficial convention for the Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire universe!
Yerolemou, who has appeared at every Con of Thrones since the event began in 2017, will appear on panels and programming at Con of Thrones 2023, as well as participate in autograph and photograph experiences with fans and lead Water Dancing sword fighting workshops. Tickets for Con of Thrones will go on sale this Friday, February 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern!
Since 2017, Con of Thrones has brought together tens of thousands of the biggest fans and creators for Game of Thrones. Con of Thrones features over 100 hours of programming and panels, from Special Guest Spotlights to fan-led deep dives into the story and more. The event also features autograph and photograph opportunities with special guests, as well as other add-on experiences like sword-fighting workshops and animal encounter experiences with trained working wolf-dogs.
Past guests include Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Jerome Flynn (Bronn), Hannah Murray (Gilly), Joe Dempsie (Gendry), Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn), Paula Fairfield (Sound Design), and many more. Additional guests for Con of Thrones 2023 will be announced at a later date.

Alys Rivers audition offers hints at her characterization in season 2
We hoped, we speculated, and now it’s (more or less) confirmed! Alys Rivers will be appearing in season 2 of House of the Dragon. Casting for her is currently underway and Emily Beecham is a contender for the role. **Spoilers for Fire and Blood and season 2 below**
Redanian Intelligence has published two videos of Emily Beecham, best known for playing the mysterious Maura Frank in Netflix’s 1899, reading for a character codenamed AR, who is … very obviously Alys Rivers.
In the first video, Alys is serving as “[Harrenhal]’s closest approximation” to a physician (ergo, the title of the video) and speaks with Daemon Targaryen after he’s “squabbled” with Rhaenyra. She dishes out some cool exposition on Harrenhal and offers Daemon a sleeping draught, which he apparently accepts because in the second video he asks her what she put in it. In both dialogues, Alys pokes at Daemon’s fragile ego and questions his loyalty to Rhaenyra.
I find the presence of sleeping draughts in these scenes interesting because in Fire and Blood Alys was rumored to have “used her poisons and potions to bind men to her, body and soul.” The fact that she’s giving Daemon herbal remedies that are having some sort of effect on him suggests that House of the Dragon intends to play into these rumors, or at least explain how they got started.
That said, fake scripts are typically used for audition scenes to avoid leaks, so we shouldn’t read too much into the precise wording of these dialogues (though boy, would I love “I’m no woman at all, I’m a barn owl. I was cursed to live in human form. Hoot-hoot,” to make the final cut). Still, this is our first look at any iteration of House of the Dragon‘s Alys Rivers and I, for one, am ecstatic.

Kit Harington says he “can’t say anything” about Jon Snow spinoff
With our attention so fixed on House of the Dragon, it can be easy to forget that there are other Game of Thrones spinoffs in various stages of development … some of which would promise the return of familiar faces if they come to fruition.
During Kit Harington’s recent guest appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, he teased the possibility of a Jon Snow sequel series, though he maintained we shouldn’t get our hopes up just yet.
Jimmy and Kit’s nearly 8-minute interview covers several topics, from Kit’s family life to his upcoming film, Baby Ruby, but at 3:08, Jimmy asks Kit about the Game of Thrones fan convention he attended last year, to which Kit fondly replies:
“It was a bit like going back in time. You know, I know it’s only been four years or something but it feels longer and I went to it and it’s nice seeing the fans and it’s kind of amazing that, that show has still got such a fan base and it’s continuing on in its in its own way.”
Which, of course, segues (3:35) into “rumors” of a Jon Snow spinoff. Jimmy and Kit both speak of it as something largely hypothetical which … I find confusing. A Jon Snow spinoff was, indeed, announced to be in development last summer. This doesn’t guarantee that it’ll make it all the way through production, but it’s objectively more than a rumor. Watching Kit pretend to *sigh* know nothing, frankly, gives me flashbacks to that awful year between seasons 5 and 6 when Kit and every other soul connected to Game of Thrones had to swear up and down that Jon Snow really was dead and wasn’t coming back.
Maybe I’m overthinking things. Jimmy and Kit’s conversation is charming and towards the end (4:44) Jimmy beseeches fans not to ask Kit for selfies in order to hurt his ego badly enough to make him agree to make the spinoff. He speculates that “if you [don’t] do it for the next two days, by Monday we could have an answer, and we could see a Game of Thrones spinoff right now with Jon Snow.
We’ll see what happens.

Filming for season 2 has a start date and casting for Blood and Cheese reportedly underway
Production for House of the Dragon season 2 is set to start in March and casting for one particularly infamous, yet pivotal scene may have begun.
According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance (FTIA), season 2 of House of the Dragon will begin filming on March 6 in Spain (no cities specified as of it) and London. The show’s profile also lists Alan Taylor as director, though we know from an announcement made last August that he’ll also be serving as executive producer.
In more speculative news, Redanian Intelligence reports that casting for one of House of the Dragon‘s most morbidly anticipated scenes may be underway. ***SPOILERS for season 2 and Fire and Blood below ***
House of the Dragon is looking for 3-4 year-old twins with shoulder-length blond hair to film for a few days between April and June. More than likely, this casting is for Jaehaerys and Jaehaera Targaryen, Helaena’s children and Blood and Cheese’s victims. Now, in Fire and Blood, Helaena is forced to choose between her eldest son, Jaehaerys, and her youngest, Maelor, as per Daemon’s vengeful promise: “a son for a son.” There’s been no sign of Maelor in the show so far so it seems likely that the powers that be at HBO have chosen to limit the number of traumatized children on House of the Dragon by omitting Maelor and forcing Helaena choose between her twins, instead. A child for a child.
And this may not be the only adaptational liberty taken with this scene. An audition tape recently surfaced of an actor named Samuel Edward-Cook reading for the the role of Cheese (code-named Charlie C).

It’s a little hard to hear, but at 00:19, the person reading off screen says, “To kidnap a royal fucking prince, where do you think we’re going to find him?” This has stirred up concern among fans that the murder of Jaehaerys (the presumed “royal fucking prince” in question) will be yet another character decision turned misunderstanding. I’ll admit, the prospect of House of the Dragon changing Jaehaerys’ murder into a kidnapping-gone-wrong doesn’t thrill me. However, considering Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon‘s longstanding practice of giving actors fake scripts for auditions in order to prevent leaks, I’m not putting much stock in the precise wording of Edward-Cook’s tape.
