James Cosmo Has Joined the Con of Thrones Special Guest Line-Up!

The news just keeps on coming! Con of Thrones announced today that Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo has joined the special guest lineup for Con of Thrones 2018! Cosmo played the gruff Lord Commander Jeor Mormont of the Night’s Watch in the first three seasons of Game of Thrones.

Cosmo joins an ever-growing lineup of special guests including Game of Thrones cast members Hannah Murray (Gilly), Sibel Kekilli (Shae), Esmé Bianco (Ros), Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel),  Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn), Sam Coleman (Young Hodor), and Aimee Richardson (Myrcella Baratheon), along with Game of Thrones sound designer Paula Fairfield, weapons master Tommy Dunne and popular podcasts A Storm of Spoilers, Bald Move and The Ringer’s Binge Mode.

The Scottish actor has had a legendary career, appearing in a massive variety of film and television series, with parts in movies such as Wonder Woman, Trainspotting, Braveheart, Troy, Highlander, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and many more. Not to mention a stint last year on the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother, where Cosmo won audiences’ hearts and went to the finals of the show.

Young Actress Cast in Big Season 8 Episode!

As Game of Thrones filming season continues, today we bring you some juicy casting news, which are understandably few and far between for the show’s last season. But they exist! A young actress has been cast in a role, which isn’t saying much, but there are clues that may point us to the right direction, such as the character’s name, previous casting calls that match the role, and the veteran who is directing her scenes.

As we can see in her agency’s site, the young actress cast in season eight is Bronte Carmichael. That alone is not much with which to speculate (though that is a stupendous name,) but we know a bit more than that. The character’s name is Martha, which is a common enough name … common enough, perhaps, for one of the smallfolk?

Most intriguing is the director attached to Carmichael’s role: Miguel Sapochnik. As the man responsible for The Gift, Hardhome, Battle of the Bastards and The Winds of Winter, few veteran Game of Thrones directors can compete with his track record. That’s probably why, for this six-part season, Sapochnik is the one directing the third and fifth episodes, which we have reasons to believe are the ones with the season’s two greatest battle sequences. Let’s keep this spoiler-free (so tag your spoilers in the comments!), but if you have been following our filming reports, you know which two I mean.

Though Bronte’s role may be small, she is not an extra, but a featured character played by an accomplished child actor. So, if I were to guess (judging by her résumé, her character’s name and who is directing her,) I’d say this “Martha” character will be one of the many smallfolk who find themselves in danger during the White Walker invasion.

This profile may remind you of the young daughter role we so recently uncovered, but that casting notice called for much younger talent; twin girls, in fact, to film more hours without breaking any child labor laws. Instead, “Martha” is much more likely to be the Northern girl character we revealed last September: around age 8, but played by an actress as old as 10, Northern-accented, straight-talking, dauntless, honorable, fearless, from a family of soldiers. The part was said to be a “very nice stand-out part for a strong-minded young girl with a fighting spirit.” If this is indeed Carmichael’s role, according to the casting call she already filmed her scenes back in November.

Will Martha be the tough Northern girl she appears to be? Is she, perhaps, one of the children who Jon decreed would learn to fight regardless of gender? What do you think?

Tommy Dunne and Bald Move Join the Con of Thrones Line-up!

Con of Thrones announced today that Game of Thrones weapons master Tommy Dunne and fan-favorite podcasters Bald Move have joined the lineup for Con of Thrones 2018!

They join an already-stelllar lineup of guests including Game of Thrones cast members Hannah Murray (Gilly), Sibel Kekilli (Shae), Miltos Yerolemou (Syrio Forel), Esmé Bianco (Ros), Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn), Sam Coleman (Young Hodor), and Aimee Richardson (Myrcella Baratheon), along with Game of Thrones sound designer Paula Fairfield, and popular podcasts A Storm of Spoilers and The Ringer’s Binge Mode.

Dunne has been with Game of Thrones since the very beginning, even appearing on the show in two separate cameos- once in “Winter is Coming”‘s notorious shaving scene, and later in the season 4 opener, “Two Swords,” where Dunne’s expertise was on display as Ice was melted down. In addition to serving as GoT‘s weapons master for the entire span of the show, Dunne’s work as an armorer has been seen in films such as Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, V for Vendetta, The Mask of Zorro, and many more.

The fellas at Bald Move, known for the Game of Thrones Podcast, are returning for another round of Con of Thrones fun, and we’re thrilled to have them. Bald Move, consisting of Jim Jones and A.Ron Hubbard, were huge favorites at last year’s con. The duo will be bringing back their brand of insight, humor and wit, and will be featured on an array of panels at Con of Thrones 2018.
