WiC Weekly: March 6-12

Time to recap the biggest Game of Thrones-related stories from the past week, starting with the obvious: there’s a new Season 6 trailer!

We screencapped the trailer to death so we could squeeze every last piece of information we could out of it.

Here’s a final trailer breakdown, this time in GIF form!

The trailer covered a lot of ground, but Game of Thrones has a huge number of characters, so quite a few didn’t show up. We look at who was missing, and ask what their absence may portend.

And now for non-trailer news. Ian McShane has a small role in Season 6, but he’s been out in force in the media, and seems unable to keep himself from dropping spoilers.

After a mix-up, several A Song of Ice and Fire fans feared that George R.R. Martin may have died. He stepped in to assure people that rumors of his death were greatly exaggerated.

The author also volunteered that he might be able to finish his novels before Game of Thrones wrapped up on HBO, but only if the show lasted an extra two seasons.

Kit Harington finally cracked and said that Jon Snow would appear in the new season, but only just.

The trailer isn’t the only way HBO is marketing the new season. It also set up a website where fans can add themselves to the creepy Hall of Faces underneath the House of Black and White.

Let’s bring this post full circle: join in our discussion of the Season 6 trailer on this week’s Small Council:
