Iwan Rheon to play a wealthy son whose father dies mysteriously, and other celeb news

Just because your Game of Thrones character is dead doesn’t mean your career is. In fact, for the actors on HBO’s mega-hit, the opposite is often true. Here’s what former cast members are up to, starting with Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton).

Rheon will play the character of Adam, the son of a murdered billionaire, in Riviera, 10-part drama series. According to Wales OnlineRiviera is “set in the opulent world of the ultra-rich and set against the stunning backdrop of the sun-drenched South of France.” Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You and Save the Last Dance, lest we forget) will headline the project as Georgina, the wife of that murdered billionaire. Did he die under mysterious circumstances? You bet he did.

Has Rheon been typecast as another crazy son who killed his father? We’ll find out when Riviera premieres on Sky Atlantic.

Meanwhile, Rose Leslie (Ygritte) will be playing the lead in Haunted, a new thriller from DreamWorks and director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later). Deadline describes Haunted as “a gothic ghost story.” Knock ’em dead, Ms. Leslie.

Moving on to religious matters, the High Sparrow is in Chicago. Well, Jonathan Pryce is. He’s playing Shylock in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s production of The Merchant of Venice, currently sold out. He sat down with the host of Chicago Tonight to discuss the play, his lengthy acting career, and his time on Game of Thrones. According to Pryce, the High Sparrow was not the villain of the piece, although fans can beg to differ. Here’s the full video interview.

He also drops some serious political digs toward the end there. “If Donald Trump gets in, I’m leaving the world.” Okay, then.

Finally, we have some odds and ends. First, Kristian Nairn (Hodor) will appear at Baltimore Comic Con. Look for him on September 3 and 4. Lastly, Game of Thrones director Michelle MacLaren will helm an adaptation of the bestselling novel The Nightingale.
