WiC Weekly: December 4-10

From casting news to on-set views, here’s all the biggest news to come out of the Game of Thrones-sphere over the last week.

Let’s start with the curious bit of news from the week. Odd as it sounds, lightweight UFC champion Conor McGregor will have a role in Game of Thrones Season 7. That’s quite a cameo.

Next, George R.R. Martin gave a thorough talk about his work while at the Guadalajara International Book Fair. It included a few nuggets about The Winds of Winter.

Back on TV, Sophie Turner has some very interesting comments about Sansa’s journey through Game of Thrones Season 7. Are they contradictory? We take a look.

Peter Vaughan, who played Maester Aemon for four years on Game of Thrones, has died.

Vaughan made a lot of friends during his 75-year career. Many of them stepped forward to offer remembrances.

In trailer news, there’s a trailer for Game of Thrones Season 7. Well, there’s a few flashes of footage in HBO’s year-ender video. Still, we’ll take what we can get.

There’s also a behind-the-scenes video that’s heavy on the pyrotechnics. Take a close look with us.

Other behind-the-scenes stuff: pics from a brutal battle being filmed at the Los Barruecos natural monument in Spain.

Westworld wrapped its first season to good reviews. From one tentpole HBO drama to another, we compare Westworld Season 1 to Game of Thrones Season 1.

Every week, the writers at WiC discuss a Game of Thrones-related question. This week: who from Season 6 deserves the WiC Award for Best Actor?

Finally, we rank 50 of the best Game of Thrones characters. It’s a big cast, and finding 50 people was no problem.
