Lena Headey loses Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe to Olivia Colman

Lena Headey was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category of Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. She didn’t win.

As of now, the Golden Globes have not exploded, so that’s good.

Game of Thrones

Headey had some stiff competition for the award:

  • Olivia Colman – The Night Manager
  • Lena Headey – Game Of Thrones
  • Chrissy Metz – This Is Us
  • Mandy Moore – This Is Us
  • Thandie Newton – Westworld

In the end, the Golden Globe went to Olivia Colman of The Night Manager, a British television serial based on a book by author John le CarrĂ©. AMC picked up the show for broadcast in the US. The Night Manager has been having a surprisingly good night—Hugh Laurie, who plays arms dealer Richard Onslow Roper, won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor In A Series, Mini-Series, Or Motion Picture Made For Television.

This was the first time Headey had been nominated for a Golden Globe. In fact, the only other actor from the show to get a nomination is Peter Dinklage, who was nominated in Laurie’s category for his work on Game of Thrones Season 1. He won.

At any rate, Headey broke though. Maybe she’ll take it home in the future. Game of Thrones will be eligible after Seasons 7 and 8.
