Game of Thrones-themed cafe opens in Islamabad, Pakistan

Game of Thrones-themed eateries are nothing new. For example, a GoT-themed pop-up bar sprung up in Edinburgh, Scotland a few weeks ago. But a new, more permanent establishment recently opened its doors in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The King’s Landing Cafe & Grill is located in Phase 4, Bahria Town, and is the brainchild not of a veteran restaurateur but five young engineering graduates who had trouble finding work in their field after completing their studies at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences.

“The current job market for engineers is so disappointing that we were left with no choice but to put our creativity to good use,” co-founder Qasim Ben Tariq told The Express Tribune. “So we started our quest for an appropriate entrepreneurial venture and all options were put under consideration.”

After research, we identified that the formula for success is to provide the modern day consumers with a unique experience and memories associated with a product or service.

Spoken like a true engineer. The other co-owners are Ali Saif, Moiz Hashmi, Hammad Anwar and Arslan Sajid.

The group purchased all of the decor for the restuarant from international sources—it’s robust, and includes everything from photos from the show to maps of Westeros to a hand-made replica of the Iron Throne, excellent for sitting in and making like you’re the ruler of everything.

Quotes from the show plaster the walls, and there’s even a replica Ned Stark head sitting on a shelf.

If the devil is in the details, than the King’s Landing Cafe and Grill must have made a deal with the Night King. Take a tour of the place with this video from the grill’s Facebook page:

Shelf heads and Iron Thones are nice and all, but what about the food? The menu has everything from American fair to Mexican steaks, all of them with Game of Thrones-themed names. Items include the Little Fingers, the Valar Spaghetti Pasta, the Hound’s Chicken and more.

Then there’s the Mighty Mountain Challenge. Named after everyone’s favorite undead enforcer, the Mighty Mountain Challenge is a massive beef burger that customers must eat in a set time to receive 50% off their meal. They’ll also get their names on the cafe’s Hall of Fame and receive 10% off each subsequent meal until another patron competes the challenge. The Mountain would approve.

Hopefully HBO approves as well. For all men must eat. And drink.
