Roughly 72 hours to go and the interviews keep pouring in! Cast members Kit Harington, Jacob Anderson, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Sophie Turner, Nathalie Emmanuel, Gwendoline Christie, John Bradley and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau talk “emotional” battle sequences, high-stakes and how far their character have come.
Eric and Terri kick off Dragons on the Wall‘s coverage of season 7 with guest John Bradley, who talks extensively about the new feeling of this season and how Sam’s entire journey throughout the show has led to this moment.
The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Iain Glen, Jacob Anderson and Gwendoline Christie, all of whom play characters familiar with combat, about the battles in store for us in season 7.
“There are definitely a couple of biggies,” said Iain Glen. “And they’re all different in flavor.”
Jacob Anderson called the battles “very big and very complex” and, perhaps most interestingly, “very emotional” and Gwendoline Christie teased some twists in the storytelling:
“What’s wonderful about the show is that it’s often very unexpected and what people are known for doesn’t necessarily transpire,” she said. “You will see lots of action, but not always in the way you might initially think. But you won’t be disappointed in terms of epic scale.”
Sophie Turner spoke to Insider about Sansa Stark, whose storyline in season 7 will be explore the theme of “power.” She reflected on how much Sansa has changed since season 1 and what it’s been like to play such a dynamic character over such a long period of time.
“It’s amazing, it really is, being given the chance to develop a character over seven or eight years for 10 hours every year,” she said. “The Sansa that I knew in season one is unrecognizable to me now, because she’s developed so much. It’s really rewarding to be able to play a character like that and delve so deep into her. It’s such a fleshed out storyline. And she has changed measurably, it’s really a beautiful transformation.”

Sophie Turner waxes poetic about the inevitable end of Game of Thrones and promises a “very different” storyline for Sansa Stark in season 7: “It’s about her having power for the first time.”
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau addresses the question on all of our minds: how will Jaime react when he learns that Cersei committed mass murder with Wildlife?
Jacob Anderson chatted about the Unsullied facing cold weather for the first time and teased Grey Worm’s arc in season 7: “This is definitely the season where Grey Worm’s journey to becoming like a human being – which he never really had the opportunity to do – is coming to a high point.”
Nathalie Emmanuel chats about Missandei’s romance with Grey Worm and how war and the threat of death might … speed things along.
Isaac Hempstead-Wright explains just what it means for season 7 Bran to be the Three-Eyed Raven and hinted that, for the all the supernatural powers at play in Westerns, the human characters can still be their own worst enemies. “It may not actually be the Night King who ends up being the undoing of everybody.”
Gwendoline Christie talks about Brienne’s development in season 7 and offers her insights into Tormund’s attraction to Brienne.
Lastly, Gwendoline Christie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau engaged in a bit of silliness by interviewing each and doing their best to trip each other up.
