Celeb roundup: Game of Thrones Actors Support Syrian Refugees

With the Game of Thrones Season 6 promotional tide rushing toward us, HBO has let cast members team up with the International Rescue Committee and Omaze—the same site that gave select fans the chance to visit the Season 7 set earlier this year—to bring attention to the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis.

Here in the US we are a little isolated from the huge flood of immigrants leaving Syria due to the ongoing horrors of war, but in Europe, this is a huge crisis. Millions of people have been displaced from their home country and are struggling to find new lives in whatever country is willing to take them. The amount of aid needed to help these people is staggering, and though some governments have stepped up to the plate, there’s still a huge deficit in what is needed. To that end, the actors have joined up to promote hashtag #RealmToTheRescue.

According to the press release, Omaze is offering fans “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hang out with the Game of Thrones cast at the Season 6 premiere and support IRC. For this campaign, Omaze worked with the GoT cast to create unique content for fans, offering them the chance of a lifetime to meet the cast at the premiere (among other amazing donor perks). Fans can enter for the chance to win this experience for as little as a $10 donation.”

To enter, head to Omaze’s website.

The goal is to raise over $1M during the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere on April 24th.

But holding cue cards isn’t the only place you can see Sophie Turner. she’s also front and center on the brand new poster for X-Men: Apocalypse.

And finally, three of the deceased citizens of Westeros turned up last night on Lifetime for the US premiere of the BBC’s And Then There Were None. (Check out Ani’s recap here.) Burn Gorman, Noah Taylor and Charles Dance all survived the first round of murders last night on Soldier Island in Agatha Christie’s most famous murder mystery of all time. Tonight the conclusion airs, and it’s a good bet for everyone that by the time all is said and done, they may have found Westeros the easier existence.

(And if you are watching and you know whodunit, do everyone a favor and keep that spoiler under wraps. It’s a lot of fun for those of us who know which one it is to watch everyone else try and puzzle it out.)
