WiC Weekly: March 13-19

Time to run down the top Game of Thrones-related news stories from the past week, and there were a few doozies.

The run-up to Game of Thrones Season 6 has begun in earnest, and even HBO is being a little more careful with the details than last year, there’s still plenty to see. For example, the network debuted a brief clip of a scene from the season premiere at this year’s SXSW.

Apparently, one Season 4 scene was so violent that the Game of Thrones producers decided to cut it. So they do have a limit.

Now that his character is dead, Stephen Dillane (Stannis Baratheon) is being a little loose with what he says about the show. It ends up that he wasn’t a huge fan, which weirdly just makes him a better Stannis.

The Season 6 trailer made serious waves. Find out how many and what kind.

Ian McShane has been on the press trail for the upcoming season of Game of Throne lately, and the actor’s unabashed honestly has been pretty amusing.

We dive into one of the more out-there fan theories about A Song of Ice and Fire on a new edition of theorycrafting.

Critics may not be able to screen episodes of the new Game of Thrones season this year, but cast members are heaping praise on it.

Starz’s Outlander is trying to create buzz for its second season by comparing itself to fellow fantasy/history show Game of Thrones.

To promote the release of the Game of Thrones Season 5 home video boxset, HBO set up some elaborate stunts involving dragon projected onto the sides of buildings. It wasn’t exactly a smash hit, but points for trying.

And finally, the always crafty Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) teased a “big secret” that we may already know about Game of Thrones Season 6. Oh, Mr. Cunningham, you sly sea-dog.
