“HUGE Spoiler” to Return to Game of Thrones for Season 6

WARNING: SPOILERS FOR GAME OF THRONES SEASON 6

Here we sit, officially one week away from the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere, and a potentially huge spoilery bombshell has been dropped right in the middle of the Game of Thrones news circuit. Roughly six months ago, we told you about a Twitter interaction between Jóhannes Haukur (unnamed role) and Ricky Champ (Flynn) who will both play members of an outlaw band in Season 6. The interaction ended with the mentioning of: “Say hello to Paul Kaye!” Kaye portrayed the Red Priest, Thoros of Myr, who was last seen in Season 3, bringing Lord Beric Dondarrion back to life.

So, we’ve been assuming that Kaye would appear in Season 6 — as Thoros — and we thought we would get some sort of official confirmation of his involvement in the season, but sadly that never came…until this evening. Watchers on the Wall caught the scoop from Kaye’s agency, Vivienne Clore, and reported that Kaye would in fact, officially be returning to Game of Thrones Season 6, as the resurrection-practicing Red Priest, Thoros. Here’s what his agency had to say:

Paul has also been busy with television roles, you can catch him in the eagerly awaited Season 6 of Game of Thrones which debuts on Sky Atlantic Monday 25th April.

Now, here’s where the SPOILERS really get thick, so turn back if you wish to remain as unsullied as possible. Watchers is also reporting that Thoros will be involved in a scene featuring a hanging. Who do we know from the A Song of Ice and Fire books, involved with the Brotherhood Without Banners and Thoros of Myr, who has a proclivity for hanging? You guessed it, Lady Stoneheart.

Lady Stoneheart

There is no confirmation — official or otherwise — that Lady Stoneheart will appear in Season 6, but if Paul Kaye is filming a scene as Thoros, that involves a hanging, you can bet that this is the best moment for showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss to finally introduce her. And, with Episode 3 titled “Oathbreaker” the tinfoil hats will be out in full force, for an appearance from this vengeful lady with a heart of stone.
