Press Roundup: Game of Thrones stars tease Season 7 before LA Premiere

Game of Thrones Season 7 Premiere ABC

Before the LA premiere takes place later today, the Game of Thrones cast members have all sat down with the press to tease the incoming season, including Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gwendoline Christie, Iain Glen, Nathalie Emmanuel, Richard Dormer, Liam Cunningham, Jacob Anderson, Indira Varma, and Jerome Flynn.

A day after Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The actor discussed his work with Google, proclaimed himself the second strongest man in the world and, of course, teased season seven. He also cleverly defended the cast’s lies between seasons five and six regarding Jon Snow’s death by appealing to Jon’s heritage:

Nikolaj appeared on Extra TV alongside his character’s true on-screen love: Brienne of Tarth, that is, Gwendoline Christie (don’t fight me on this.) They also interviewed Kit Harington, who discussed meeting celebrity fans and promised no sense of closure in season seven but plenty of “meetings that you’ve been waiting for for a very long time.”

Harington also sat down for a long talk with The Rich Eisen Show and teased “a couple of huge battles” with Access Hollywood, though he did complain about “feeling his age” while filming of one of them, a claim laughed at by —let’s say— more “veteran” actors Richard Dormer and Liam Cunningham, who in turn looked back on the filming difficulties of the season three fight between Beric Dondarrion and Sandor Clegane.

But we are not done with Jon Snow: yesterday there was an interview with Kit Harington at the LA Paley Center, sponsored by Wall Street Journal, and though sadly there is no footage yet, a summary has turned up. Reportedly, Harington opened up about the question he avoided answering at Jimmy Kimmel Live — who he believes will sit in the Iron Throne. According to Harington, he thinks it will be Tyrion, because he can see the bigger picture, and because the whole story is about how those who seek power are probably the worst ones that wield it — though Tyrion has always been around power, he has never had any higher expectations, or as he once put it to Varys: “I will never shit on the Iron Throne.” This, however, applies to Jon even more so: Harington loves that Jon isn’t seeking power, but instead thinking of how he can save as many people as he can. Harington also revealed season seven was the most enjoyable for him because everyone is converging and it’s felt like a party; and it’s been the most satisfying season for him.

At ET Online, Harington discussed his wish to keep Longclaw when the show is over, the fact that “the most exciting thing about this season” is “the interactions between so many different characters that we’ve been waiting to meet”, the battle scene he is involved in, how upset the paparazzi make the cast and crew, and more.

Finally, in a rather crowded interview with ABC News, Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Gwendoline Christie, Iain Glen, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jacob Anderson, Indira Varma, and Jerome Flynn, who talked about Jon Snow’s death, Jaime’s evolving relationship with Cersei, the Targaryen crew’s arrival to Westeros, the rapid pacing of season seven, who will sit in the Iron Throne (if anyone!), and more.
