Ellie Kendrick thinks Game of Thrones fans should rewatch the “Hold the Door” sequence

Many of us Game of Thrones fans are obsessed with minutiae—bloodstains in the snow, whispered dialog in the Tower of Joy, Bran’s greensight visions…they send us off scouring episodes frame by frame, hunting for any clues the storytellers might dropped about events to come. And it only gets worse during the long winters between seasons.

Perhaps rewatching can salve the wound. Ellie Kendrick (Meera Reed) talked to Bustle about which Season 6 scene was most worthy of watching again:

I think you know it’s going to be the ‘Hold The Door’ scene. For me, that was such a brilliant scene to be part of. It was one of the first times where as an actor, you watch it back and you kind of forget that you’re even in it. You’re just enjoying it, because it’s so good … It still boggles my mind, because there are so many different layers that are going on with the time travel, backwards and forwards. So I think that scene could do with a few watches and there’s so many different theories about what is going on there.

Blood of My Blood

Bran’s journey through the space-time continuum provided fodder for a lot of fan theories. But it doesn’t seem like Kendrick is cracking open the mystery box: she is simply urging the viewer to try to fully appreciate everything that is going on all at once in that brilliant sequence.

As a fan, Kendrick’s favorite Season 6 scenes to watch are the ones between Arya and the Waif. Meera has been isolated from most of the cast so far, and now that she and Bran are on the move, it would It would be nice to see her get an opportunity to interact with other characters, like Sansa or Jon. But for now, Kendrick knows that Meera is all about Bran:

She’s always been kind of Bran’s protector, and now she’s in a stage where we see them leaving that cave that she hates so much and going out in the wilderness. So whatever happens, a huge challenge awaits them. They don’t even have Benjen anymore. So we’ll just have to see — the challenge for Meera is how is she gonna get this kid to safety? And so seeing that journey we’ll be exciting. We’ll have to wait and see!

Kendrick, who’s long filmed in chilly locales, also adds that “It would be really nice to film somewhere sunny. If [Meera] took a trip [to Croatia, where King’s Landing is filmed] I wouldn’t be sad. I’d get to top off my sun tan.”
