Game of Thrones’ Pilou Asbæk talks Euron Greyjoy’s season 7 role, hints at season 8

Despite only appearing in two episodes of season 6, Euron Greyjoy made quite the impression thanks to the man behind everyone’s favorite uncle, Pilou Asbæk. Asbæk currently doing to the publicity rounds for his role in the Scarlett Johansson headlined Ghost in the Shell adaptation, took some time to answer questions related to Game of Thrones. Minor spoilers follow below.

Asbæk spoke to MTV News at the New York premiere of Ghost and described Euron’s hell raising as “Enough to get satisfied — good satisfied.” Well that can’t be good for his favorite niece and nephew, Theon and Yara. Asbæk refused to go much deeper, as the Danish actor has a very personal take on spoilers.

I went to the cinema when I was a kid, and in Denmark, the transit between exiting and entering the cinema is very short, so when people are exiting, you come in to see the film again… It was The Sixth Sense, and this guy was coming out, and he said, ‘I can’t believe Bruce Willis was dead!’ Ever since then, I was like, ‘I’m never, ever, ever going to spoil anything for anyone else.'”

Fair enough. Still, that didn’t stop Asbæk from dropping a bit of spoiler to a second publication. Or did it?

Possible season 8 spoilers follow below. Proceed at your own risk.

When asked about his plans following Ghost by Miami.com, Asbæk had this cryptic reply,

I may be going to do some more “Game of Thrones.” Maybe I won’t. I’ll take a break. I want to see my wife and daughter. I’ve missed them a lot.

As season 7 has wrapped filming and is now in post production, Asbæk can only mean season 8. Asbæk’s reply is non-committal, which might suggest Euron Greyjoy does not survive until season 8 and Asbæk doesn’t want to spoil anything. Or he could just be playing with us. Seems like something Euron Greyjoy might do.

Game of Throne season 7 debuts July 16th.
