The fall has been quiet as production on the Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon moves along in the time of COVID. News popped up recently though, thanks to Redanian Intelligence, uncovering the new home base studios for HOTD.
According to an update posted on UKProductionNews, House of the Dragon will be filming at Leavesden Studios in Watford. HBO confirmed the news after it broke. Watford is found northwest of London. The studios were used most notably for several films in the Harry Potter series.
Taking a closer look at the info RI uncovered, they also found on that on the UKProduction site, the piece was later updated to “Date shoot starts January 2021.” Personally, I would take that exact date with a grain of salt. (Although I would love it, if it were true- the sooner the better!) There are often estimated dates in public production and casting websites, especially when they are openly available. Additionally the cast member they’ve added to the blurb is the one who is known from publicly available information, recently announced star Paddy Considine. Considine will be playing King Viserys Targaryen.
I’m excited that we now know where the home base will be for the foreseeable future! It makes it much easier to look for Twitter and Instagram sightings. Here’s hoping that masks don’t make our star-spotting game utterly impossible!
