11 Game of Thrones Season 7 pics leak out, with the Night King, Lord Beric, and more!

New promotional pictures for Game of Thrones season seven are arriving at an increasing rate as the premiere draws nearer, and some of them haven’t turned up through the usual channels — not directly through HBO, that is. Last week, the show’s Spanish broadcaster was the one with the new pics, and today it’s… Reddit, of all places!

Though a few of the photos are familiar, the rest bring us our first look of the year at certain characters, such as the leaders of the White Walkers and the Brotherhood Without Banners —the Night King and Ser Beric Dondarrion, respectively.

A new thread in the rather free-spirited Free Folk subreddit by user gravemaster7 is behind the publication of these new promotional photos. Some of them are alternative shots of pictures we have already seen, but others, as seen below, are quite new:

Though the remaining photos are a tad repetitive, you can take a look at them here.

It’s wonderful to see Richard Dormer as Lord Beric again, but there may be more to these pictures than meets the eye. Mau from our own Watchers on the Wall community was not only the first to bring up the existence of these pictures to us, but also the first eagle-eyed fan to notice this season seven iteration of the Night King looks suspiciously like the original one played by the thin, more skeletal Richard Brake in seasons four and five, most prominently in “Hardhome”, instead of the bulkier Vladimir Furdik, who played the character in season six’s “The Door” — going by that episode, the Night King had been hitting the gym hard between massacring Hardhome and besieging the cave of the Three-eyed raven… And he seemed to have developed a different nose, too:

It’s a tricky thing to confirm just from these two Night King photographs, but the body shape of the actor behind the mask does seem to resemble Brake much more than Furdik, and his facial features appear to agree with that assessment. Furthermore, Brake was interviewed recently at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest and talked about his Game of Thrones role as something not from the past — notice the use of the present tense:

Whether it is the villainous-looking Brake or the physically imposing Furdik behind the makeup, we can be sure the Night King will be there to torment us all with the threat of human extinction. May Lord Beric, pictured above in the snow, be there to stop him? With the Brotherhood offering a Sandor a meaningful quest up North in last year’s “No One”, may Beric Dondarrion and his band of not-so-merrymen be a vital piece in the war against the White Walkers and their army of the dead? We’ll have to wait and see!
