NBC aired the 74th Annual Golden Globes last night, and members of the Game of Thrones cast were on the red carpet representing Westeros. My favorite red carpet moment was when Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) photobombed the kids from Stranger Things.

Always nice when shows cross-pollinate. How would the Kingslayer fare in the Upside Down…?
A question for another time. Unfortunately, Game of Thrones did less well during the telecast proper, where it failed to win either of the two awards for which it was nominated: Best Supporting Actress in a TV Show for Lena Headey (Cersei) or Best Drama. (Netflix’s The Crown took Best Drama and Olivia Colman of The Night Manager won Best Supporting Actress.) Fans took to Twitter to vent:
Mmmm … Game of Thrones didn't win… Not happy about this.. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/hwYLJQDMCE

Shame, @TheCrownNetflix just robbed the best season of @GameOfThrones. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/vIIQqnYli0

@CourtsideCorey @WiCnet got always snub every single year on golden globes. so sad
— Endi Ramdani (@endyramdhan) January 9, 2017
To be fair, Peter Dinklage won a Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his work on Season 1, but the show has yet to win Best Drama, so I take Endi Ramdani’s point.
Elsewhere, there were varying perspective’s on The Crown, arranged from most outraged to most at peace.
@WiCnet Game of Thrones paved the way for the Crown to even get Green Lit… And this is how they show their thanks? Off with their HEADS!

@WiCnet I can't believe this! I love the crown, but it is not even close to GOT by any means!

Disappointed that TV's best show didn't win this but The Crown truly deserved it anyway. https://t.co/s2g7vDb5uL

As regards Lena Headey, a lot of fans had the same idea about the moments after we found out she didn’t win. They found it especially notable that Headey didn’t attend the show in person…
"Lena Headey isnt here. Why do you think she isn't here?" Then the auditorium explodes in green flames while Headey sips wine #GoldenGlobes

#LenaHeadey didn't win AGAIN?! Time to WILDFIRE the #GoldenGlobes. #GameofThrones
— Jay (Jaybo) Garrison (@JayboGarrison) January 9, 2017
Other fans were just upset she didn’t win—note that she was also nominated for an Emmy this year, and didn’t win that, either.
it's 2017 and lena headey still hasn't been awarded for her work as cersei lannister

@WiCnet. She was robbed and should have won !

Unfortunately, Lena Headey did not win the Golden Globe tonight, but congratulations to The Night Manager's Olivia Colman! #GoldenGlobes
— Lena Headey Gang (@lenaheadeygang) January 9, 2017
Happily, Headey herself didn’t seem upset by the loss. She had eyes only for one person:
MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL MERYL .. all we need
— lena headey (@IAMLenaHeadey) January 9, 2017
That would be Meryl Streep, who gave a passionate speech when accepting the honorary the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Awards season isn’t quite over. We still have the BAFTA Awards, and after that, it’ll only be a matter of months before Game of Thrones Season 7 hits the airwaves. The show could snag a Golden Globe yet…
