Lena Headey Reads “The Bachelor” Insults As Queen Cersei

Game of Thrones Season 6 might be the 2016 release we’re revving up for here at WiC, but with three long months until the show debuts, the actors and actresses are still focusing on promoting their off season projects. Lena Headey, for instance is starring along side Downton Abbey‘s Lily James and Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith in Pride + Prejudice + Zombies, which is arriving in theaters on February 5th. She was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, ostensibly to promote the upcoming movie. But of course, as always, all anyone wanted to talk about was Game of Thrones.

This, of course, being Jimmy Kimmel Live, he couldn’t just ask her about Game of Thrones. Instead, he came up with a game that not only emphasized Lena Headey’s major role in the TV show, but neatly tied it back to one of his network’s other major properties on ABC, The Bachelor. (I’ve been very impressed with Kimmel’s synergy work lately, from the Captain America trailer drop, the well placed tie ins to Star Wars, and now finding ways to tie reality shows that should have been put out to pasture ages ago to the biggest show on the planet.) His idea? Have Headey read aloud the catty comments made by the female contestants on The Bachelor about one another. of course, she was handed a goblet of wine and read them as the Queen of Catty Comments, Cersei Lannister.

Personally, I don’t think these are all that up to Cersei’s standards. Certainly every single last one of them would wither in the face of Margaery and her well placed observation that they don’t start drinking so early in the day.

In another segment, Headey recalls filming the “Shame” scene when she was pregnant with her second child, and some of the unfortunate side effects of having small children, and their tendency to bring home germs and bugs of all kinds.

Note that though the production tried to excuse the use of the body double on Headey’s pregnancy, she isn’t having it. She admits outright that the body double was used because she wasn’t comfortable with being nude to that extent on TV. Good for her.
