Kit Harington, the actor who’s played Jon Snow for five years on Game of Thrones, told Time Out London that he’ll appear in Season 6, however briefly, as a dead body.
That may not be the admission that fans are looking for—many are hoping that Jon Snow will rise from his murder at the end of last season and play a prominent role going forward—but it’s something. Harington was talking to Time Out about his upcoming role in the West End’s Doctor Faustus. The full interview will come out in April, but Time Out understandably dropped the bit about Jon Snow a little early. Here’s exactly what Harington had to say:
- Kit Harington: “Look, I’m not in the show any more. I’m definitely not in the new series.”
- Time Out: “So you didn’t film any new scenes?”
- Harington: “I filmed some scenes of me being dead – [jokily] it’s some of my best work.”
- Time Out: “Do you know what happens in the series or have you lost your privileges?”
- Harington: “I don’t have a clue. I know how long I’m a corpse for, but I can’t tell you that!”
Does this mean something? Nothing? Is he lying? Leaving out the full truth? We’ll wait until April 24 to find out for sure.
Kit Harington IS on the main cast list for the Season 6 premiere, which HBO recently uploaded to its schedule. If, as seems probable, Jon Snow’s body turns up in the season premiere, this might not mean much. But then again, Charles Dance played Tywin Lannister’s dead body in “The Wars to Come,” the Season 5 premiere, but he wasn’t listed in the cast list for that episode…
Also, note that Nell Tiger Free, who played Mrycella Baratheon, doesn’t appear on the cast list either, even though it looks like Free will be playing Mrycella’s body in Season 6, if the recently released still photos are any indication. Read into all of that what you will.
Other things to note from HBO’s upload:
- The cast list also doesn’t feature Stephen Dillane (Stannis). Finally, none of the actors who play Dornish characters are around, even though they all appeared on the cast list for the Season 5 premiere. We know they’ll be around at some point during Season 6, but it appears they won’t be doing much.
- The Season 6 premiere will be 50 minutes long.
