New season 6 interviews with Natalie Dormer and Sophie Turner

Margaery

Only 5 days left until Game of Thrones Season 6 and Entertainment Weekly is keeping up with their countdown coverage in a new interview with Natalie Dormer. Over at GQ, Sophie Tuner teases raising hell next season.

We last saw Margaery imprisoned below the Red Keep in Season 5 by the Faith Militant. Dormer goes into Margaery’s downfall and how she manages hitting rock bottom.

Over the five years that I’ve played Margaery we’ve seen in her in a lot of sticky situations, but she’s never been out of her depth. She’s always given the impression, at least, of being a step ahead. In season 6, you see her genuinely fearful of how best to handle the situation. She is scared and uncertain. She starts to look unrecognizable in places.

Even her character is haunted by Cersei’s Walk of Shame fearing she could meet the same fate.

The Walk of Shame looms large in Margaery’s brain, that somebody as powerful and savvy and veteran as Cersei can be taken down that way. Margaery doesn’t have the normal comfort zone of courtly politics, being thrown in a jail cell has psychologically broken her, to a certain extent. It’s definitely brought her down, made her desperate.

Dormer discusses her character’s rivalries with Queen Cersei, working with Jonathan Pryce (High Sparrow), and more over at Entertainment Weekly.

Sophie Turner teases changes in Sansa Stark this season with GQ as she takes charge of her own life.

GQ asks: “On a scale of 1 to 10, how badly do you wanna see Sansa fuck shit up this season?”

Ten! TEN! Obviously. I want her to raise hell.

100% agree. She jokes she’s eager to do some killing herself after seeing her TV sister Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) take revenge into her own hands this past season.

Ugh, yes. Totally. Like the past five seasons, when Maisie is getting to run around with swords and in trousers and stuff, I’m just like, “Gah. Man that looks like so much fun!” But Sansa’s never gonna be doing that. Her weapon is her mind. Her intellect. She’s a sharp one.

Never say never. I’m still holding out hope Sansa gets to stab a certain someone *cough, cough Ramsay cough, cough.*

Turner still radiates a positive attitude even amidst her character’s misfortune:

I don’t know if I’m trying my best to be happy when I’m shooting this depressing show. I don’t know if it’s an intentional or conscious [thing], but I definitely am just a very happy person.

GoT17SansaYou do have to go to some headspace to play Sansa. But you leave that at work. I’ll never take that home. Especially because—and people don’t realize this, but—when you’re on set it’s a very jolted thing. It’s not like you’re in that headspace all day. Sometimes you’ll have like two hours in between [set ups] where you’ll go and sit with the rest of the cast, and you can’t just sit there being quiet and miserable all day. It’s a headspace I go to for 15 minutes at a time and I hop right back out of it. It never really affects me too much.

Turner talks playing the super powered mutant Jean Grey in May’s X-Men Apocalypse, jokes hair styling techniques with Kit Harington, and more over at GQ.
