WiC Weekly: May 22-28

Time for WiC Weekly, where we recap the biggest Game of Thrones-related stores from the past week. This time, there are a lot of stories about “The Door,” the latest, momentous episode of the show. Let’s start with our recaps, which come in two flavors: one written for those who have read George R.R. Martin’s books…

…and one for those who have only ever read the show.

Today in things-we-absolutely-have-to-see, a deleted scene from “The Door” further explores the Brienne-Tormund love connection. If the producers knew how successful that strange courtship would be, I wondered if they would have thought twice about cutting this scene.

By far the most impactful moment of “The Door” was the ending, when Hodor died just as we found out more about him. Believe it or not, at least one fan correctly predicted those moments years ago.

Next, we get our theory on with a question about the nature of the Night’s King. Just who is he, and how does the character as depicted in the show depart from the one who’s mentioned in the books?

Apart from the ending, the most talked-about moment from “The Door” may have been long-time-coming confrontation between Sansa and Littlefinger. Sophie Turner dug into it.

Let’s talk about what’ll be happening tonight in “Blood of My Blood.” If HBO’s official images are any indication, a lot of it will be spent in King’s Landing.

The trailer for “Blood of My Blood” has some very interesting images in it. We break it down thoroughly

According to the Game of Thrones producers, Hodor’s final scene was one of three huge twists George R.R. Martin revealed to them when laying out the rest of his story. There’s still one twist to go…

Now that Game of Thrones is six seasons deep, it has plenty of opportunities to make internal references. Here are all the ones we found in “The Door.”

HBO seems to have avoided a full episode leak this week, but the titles for the final episodes of Season 6 may have gotten out a little early.
