Its a dark and eerie place, but every Game of Thrones fan finding themselves in Braavos might like to venture inside the House of Black and White and visit the Hall of Faces, and HBO is giving Comic Con attendees the chance to do just that. HBO has set up a spooky exhibit in the L Street Fine Art Gallery near the convention center where fans can find their own ghostly visage leering at them from the pillars of the hall. You can still get into the Hall of Faces on its last day (Sunday, July 24/see exhibit times below), but if you couldn’t attend Comic Con this year we can give you a peek inside right here.
In one end of the dark gallery looms a well-detailed Hall of Faces mock up with digital windows where attendees upload selfies (assisted by the helpful staff) and become no one. As no one waits to see their image on the wall, no one can look deep into the poison pool and read its offerings of appropriate show quotes.
Participants can take their sometimes frightening, sometimes chuckle-worthy Game of Thrones images home in digital form via email and/or a printed hard copy.
The exhibit also offers attendees a seat on one of seven traveling replicas of the Iron Throne. While people pose as the current King/Queen/Usurper of Westeros the staff reminds them to watch their pride, for they probably won’t outlast the season. Cersei had better watch out, no matter how cool her new dress is.
The Hall of Faces scenario would be incomplete without input from Jaqen H’ghar, Arya and the Waif, so each character has a show costume used in Season 6 on display
You can reach out and take hold of the real Needle sword prop Arya uses on the show. One can pose with Needle as one sees fit, though with this weapon in your hand you are, of course, no longer “no one.”
The exhibit also sports a small display case containing prop jewelry (pictured below is some of Danaerys’ stuff) and, unlike many prop items, they look fantastic all on their own.
The L Street Fine Art Gallery is located at 675 L St., opposite the Omni Hotel front drive. The Hall of Faces experience is open Thursday, July 21 through Saturday, July 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, July 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get there very early. The lines for this exhibit are big but the experience does not disappoint.
