Yet Another Game of Thrones Book That’s Not Winds of Winter

Fans of George R.R. Martin might begin feeling like the industry is trying to ply us with something, anything to soothe our distress at not having a release date for The Winds of Winter yet. (And none in sight, after Martin’s blog post yesterday telling us there was no news.) There’s the 20th Anniversary Illustrated Edition of A Game of Thrones that will be available October 18th, so that Bantam at least has something with Martin’s name on it on sale for Christmas. And now there’s another book that’s not The Winds of Winter on the way too. The Game of Thrones Coloring Book.

This is not the first in the series, as the original “Official Game of Thrones Coloring Book” came out last year at the beginning of the coloring books for adults craze. But with that craze showing no sings of slowing, and for some franchises keeping them in the Top 100 selling books of the year, HBO and Chronicle Books have collaborated to make another one happen. Especially after the first one which was put out by Martin, focused on the King’s Landing character to the exclusion of, well, the people who actually are probably going to win this thing (or at least get to the end) like Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark and Jon Snow. You know that meant they were bound to have to make another one just to correct the oversight.

The coloring book is based on the on screen TV series, not the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, so adjust your art expectations accordingly. To get a feel for what you’re buying, Entertainment Weekly published some of the images from the upcoming 60 pages of coloring book goodness. Check them out below.
