German Olympian skates to ‘Game of Thrones’ dressed as Jaime Lannister

We’re pretty sure that figure skating isn’t a thing in Westeros — although if the Night King gets his way, the whole place will be primed for it — but if it were, German figure skater Paul Fentz would’ve wowed the royals with his tribute to the Kingslayer himself during the men’s long program competition Friday night in this year’s Winter Olympics.

Fentz is apparently a huge fan of Game of Thrones, because his four-and-a-half minute program was set to music from the Season 7 soundtrack and his costume would’ve made Jaime Lannister proud, from the Kingsguard breastplate-inspired top to the golden glove on his right hand:

He even added a strip of red cloth at the wrist to indicate where the Kingslayer’s hand was cut off! That’s attention to detail if I’ve ever seen it.

Fentz didn’t skate the best program of his career and placed relatively low, missing out on a medal in the long program, but the internet went wild over his performance and obvious love for Thrones. Even commentators Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski were enthralled, with Lipinski noting that the performance “was not his best, but a Lannister always pays his debts.” Weir must have thought better of Fentz’s routine, however — he teased Lipinski for being “like Cersei” for her criticism. No word from Nikolaj Coster-Waldau yet on what he thought of Fentz’s performance.
