WiC Weekly: November 13-19

Welcome to WiC Weekly, where we recap the biggest Game of Thrones-related stories from the past week. First up: Season 6 is over and the cast and crew celebrated with a party! Behold pics:

Next, an enterprising video editor strung together scenes from the show that talked about how magic has returned to Westeros and Essos following the birth of Daenerys’ dragons. There are interesting implications here regarding Jon Snow’s story in Season 6.

Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) has been out in force (no pun intended) doing press for the new Star Wars movie, and has talked a little about Game of Thrones while she’s at it. Here, she may have said a touch more than she intended about Season 6 and beyond.

Kit Harington bemoaned the “snooping culture” that encourages people to snap pics of him in public without asking him first. It’s got to be annoying, especially when you’re trying to lay low between seasons of Game of Thrones, but it’s also kind of inevitable, now that everyone and their infant has a camera in their phone. Should we try for a better world or accept it the way it is? Tough questions.

Gwendoline Christie isn’t the only one teasing Game of Thrones Season 6. Natalie Dormer has also been at it.

In addition, a fun interview with Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton) gives us an idea of what may be in store for Ramsay come next year.

Meanwhile, we got what are probably the final on-set pics of the year. Notably, the person who posted these to Instagram has since taken them down, but the internet is forever.

And the long tease for Season 6 continues. Liam Cunningham had some interesting adjectives for the new season, while Natalie Dormer talked about a new scene partner she’ll have next year.

WiC and high-school English class collide: for the latest article in his ongoing series, Richard Preston looks at how the character of Melisandre conforms to an ancient literary archetype.

Finally, WiC writer Katie Majka takes a close look at Sansa Stark’s journey, and considers what it says about real-life domestic abuse.
