Ellie Kendrick on the popular Meera-Jon theory and Tom Wlaschiha talks Jaqen

Digital Spy recently spoke with Ellie Kendrick, who we now know is set to return as Meera Reed in Game of Thrones season 6. During the interview, Ellie was aked about her own thoughts on the theory that Meera and Jon Snow are curly-haired siblings:

I genuinely don’t have any idea as we don’t get told anything! But, I don’t know. I think people might just be thinking that because we’ve both got curly hair. In the books, our characters are described quite differently.

Continuing, she seemed skeptical that such a twist would hold up in the intricate narrative that George R.R. Martin has woven.

Hey, I’d love it to be true because it would mean great things for my character, but I’m holding back on speculation for now. I think what’s been going on in George RR Martin’s brain is so much more a complex wormhole than we could possibly imagine. I think there’s definitely a mystery to Meera and Jojen and their parentage, but I think it’ll unwind itself eventually.

I can only dream. To be honest, I don’t think Meera would be all that good on the Iron Throne! She’s a little bit of a socialist at heart, I don’t think she’ll be able to rule with the iron fist that the throne requires.

When April 24th rolls around, I suppose we may find out whether or not this outlandish theory holds any truth, and if Ellie’s hair had anything to do with her casting.

Tom Wlaschiha also recently spoke with taz.de about the show. While he revealed nothing specific about the upcoming season, he did have the following to say about his approach to playing Jaqen H’ghar (apologies for the rough Google translation/paraphrasing):

Personally, I think you may not be smarter than the writer as an actor. You play what is written for you – no more and no less. The overall picture of the character grows in the viewer’s mind – Jaqen H’ghar’s especially due to his enigmatic nature. On the one hand he is a ruthless killer, and on the other he’s a likeable figure. It’s fun to play someone so ambivalent. The background of the character, for me, is not important at all. I leave the hardcore fans on the Internet to develop their own theories.
