Game of Thrones Actors Grace the BAFTA LA Party

While the Creative Arts Emmys aired last night in condensed fashion on television, showing Game of Thrones taking home no less than nine Emmys pre-main ceremony, here in the non-tape delay world, the actors and actresses are gathering in Los Angeles to party down. This is the last time for another two years that their show will be eligible for the Emmy Awards, and many of them are making the most of their chance to rub elbows with industry insiders, while reminding them that they’ll be on the market for their next gigs very soon.

Naturally, one of those pre-Emmy parties they attended was one aimed for the British actors in America, the BAFTA LA party, nominally held by BBC America, which likes to pretend it actually has any British programming on it at all nowadays, instead of having become AMC’s Home For Star Trek Reruns. But no matter. Let’s check out what the stars wore to their tea party.

Maisie always showed up with interesting purses, thought what really drew attention was not the floating pyramid, or the spaceship embroidered cocktail dress, but the tattoo she and Sophie both got. Americans have assumed it’s 07.08.09 (July 8th, 2009), but Williams reminded interviewers the Brits do their dates the other way, so it’s actually August 7th, 2009–the day she and Sophie both learned they’d gotten their roles.

Clarke on the other hand, showed off a two toned hairdo of the bedhead variety, which always looks to me like they fought their hairdresser and ran away halfway through brushing like a disobedient toddler. Her Elie Saab Lace gown from the designer’s Resort 2017 collection also felt a little oversized, adding to the disheveled look. My favorite part was the book purse she carried.

Hannah Murray might not get quite the same level of A-list attention as Clarke and Williams, but she was on hand as well, in a blue floral suit from Disaya’s Fall 2016 collection.

And finally Martin himself turned out for the event. No, I don’t want to hear anyone saying he should be home writing. Remember, they’re not going to be eligible to party down like this in 207, and Martin’s earned the right to be there, especially since the show has already broken long standing Emmy record history, and may go on to continue to do so tonight, with several more nominations it could add to their already huge 35 Emmys and counting total awards over the course of the show’s duration.
