Between appearances from singer Ed Sheeran and New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard (not to mention other rumors), Game of Thrones season 7 is shaping up to be the most cameo-tastic season of the show yet. Now, Mastadon guitarist Brent Hinds has revealed that he’ll appear in the new season, as well.
Hinds dropped this information during an appearance on Hatebreed singer Jamey Jasta’s The Jasta Show podcast. You can probably guess based on this quote what kind of character he’ll be playing: “I just came back from my second cameo Game of Thrones,” he said. “This time, I had my broken leg and they were like, ‘You’re doing the best zombie walk, we want you to come right towards the camera. I want you to drag this axe behind you.’ I’m like a reborn, come-to-life Wildling turning into a White Walker.”
You can listen to the whole podcast below.
If you’re wondering what Hinds means by “this time,” he’s been in the show before. He and the rest of Mastadon appeared in season 5’s “Hardhome” as a group of wildlings turned into wights — check them out in the header image at the top of the post. It sounds like they’ll be back in season 7, which likely means that a group of characters (probably Jon Snow and company) will run into the same group of wights created by the Night King after the Massacre at Hardhome. We doubt it’ll be a happy reunion.
Mastadon have been big Game of Thrones fans for a while. They even wrote a song called “White Walker” for the Game of Thrones: Catch the Throne mixtape. Listen below.
It’s unclear if the rest of the band will appear, as well.
