Today is World AIDS Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of AIDS and mourning those who have died from the disease. Bono, of U2, has chosen this day to launch a massive campaign to fight the pandemic. He and his organization, RED, are soliciting donations from around the world. Donors become eligible to partake in a variety of experiences, including walking the red carpet with Meryl Streep, attending the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and visiting the Game of Thrones set in Northern Ireland.

For our purposes, the Game of Thrones trip is the most interesting thing on the menu. The more money you donate, the more chances you have to win—at a certain level, Game of Thrones-related goodies are also in play. A $10 donation, for example, will net you 100 chances to win the trip. $100 will get you 1,000 chances, plus your choice of Game of Thrones tee-shirt (available in “Winter is Coming” and “Fire and Blood” varieties). Donating $3,500 means 35,000 chances to win plus one of three autographed posters, and a $5,000 dollar donation means 50,000 chances and a replica map of Westeros complete with map markers (think the map Robb was pouring over at the beginning of “The Rains of Castamere”).
Head to RED’s Omaze page if you’d like to donate. Money raised by the campaign will be funneled to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Here’s exactly what the winner will get:
The Grand Prize Winner and a guest will tour the incredible sound stages where Game of Thrones is filmed. The visit will include a chance to visit the armory to see the actual weapons used in the series and learn how they are created, the costume department to see the myriad of cast and extra costumes, and to get a peek at the workrooms where the wardrobe, metal and leather work is created. Last but not least, the winner will see Throne Room and take a seat on the actual Iron Throne used in the series.
Not too shabby. According to the webpage, the trip is scheduled to happen somewhere between July and December of 2016, meaning that the winner will be visiting the set while the cast and crew are filming Season 7. Who knows what crazy stuff they’ll be shooting by that point?
The deadline to enter is January 21, 2016.
