We’re just a month’s worth of Sundays away from the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere on April 24, which means that if you haven’t yet refreshed your memory on all the exciting happenings of Season 5, then you better get cracking. If you happen to be the busy type and can’t dedicate 10 hours in a row to cramming the wonders of Westeros into your eye-holes, then never fear, because Arya, Sam, Reek, and the Boltons have you covered.
Over at MTV News, the actors behind the characters gave a brief summary of their storylines in Season 5, and in some cases—Ian Beattie (Meryn Trant) for instance—are pretty darn hilarious. Check it out:
I love how Maisie Williams is serious and reserved (for a change) while describing Arya’s story, while Beattie just lays down the truth in all its brutal glory. Notice Dean-Charles Chapman (Tommen Baratheon) sitting quietly by as Beattie succinctly describes Meryn Trant’s arc:
Evil scumbag who deserves everything he gets.
I wonder if it’s an accident that Sam (John Bradley-West) and Pod (Daniel Portman), two of the most beloved characters on the show, are paired for the video. Also, is Sam losing weight? I can never really tell when Bradley is wearing all those furs on the show. But when Bradley-West has been in the press lately, it seems like he’s slimmed down a bit.
I also liked how we went from Theon/Reek (Alfie Allen) to the Boltons—Michael McElhatton and Iwan Rheon. Although I despise them, I consistently find myself drawn to the characters of Roose and Ramsay Bolton…and I chalk that up to the writing on the show and the acting of McElhatton and Rheon. Just watch them during their summary of Season 5—it’s kind of delightful. No, I refuse to cheer for you, Ramsay, I don’t care if that’s all you’ve ever wanted, you evil bastard!
Then of course you’ve got Liam Cunningham (Davos) and the newly pregnant with totally not a shadow baby Carice van Houten (Melisandre). Of course, Cunningham drops the “Stan the man” quote, and I dig him for that. Is it me, or has he quietly become the spokesman for Game of Thrones Season 6? “We shall have to wait and see, in Season 6.”
