Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “Book of the Stranger”

GoT 604 38

Game of Thrones is not only a fantastic show—it’s a feast for the eyes. From the costumes to the sets to the CGI, every episode has gorgeous moments and amazing acting beats that are well worth freezing in time and considering. Today’s Best Vista Award goes to the deserts near the Spanish city of Almeria, which were the location of many a Spaghetti western back in the 1960s, and now home to Vaes Dothrak. The Spanish Tourism Board would once again like to thank Game of Thrones for this screencap.

Let’s talk some of the best images from this season’s fourth episode, “Book of the Stranger.”

GoT 604 01

We pick up where we left off last week. Jon’s watch has ended, and he’s using this whole “I died” thing as a loophole to get the hell out of Castle Black, and wear some color again.

Meanwhile, someone just showed up who has plans for him. (And she doesn’t even know he quit yet!)

GoT 604 03

Let us just take this moment and appreciate Jon Snow’s brand new look, which will likely be picked up by several different merchandised collectable companies.

GoT 604 04

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. IT’S SO HUGGY!

GoT 604 05

An interesting note: this is the only shot in the scene between Sansa and Jon where both of them are facing the camera. The entire rest of the scene is either her face or his.

GoT 604 06

This shot is so great, because Brienne towers over both of them. Davos isn’t taking revenge on her for executing Stannis, and she knows it.

GoT 604 07

This is literally the shot where Robin is asking if they should throw Royce through the Moon Door. He may have the body of a young adult, but mentally he hasn’t aged a day past eight.
