We’ve got some Game of Thrones-themed ephemera for you to enjoy over the weekend. Today: pretty, pretty pictures.
Let’s start with the final image of the year from Robert Ball’s ongoing Beautiful Death series. For every episode of Game of Thrones, Ball creates a piece of artwork that memorializes a death from the hour. In the case of “The Winds of Winter,” it’s more than one death. Take it away, Cersei.
She should use that on campaign posters.
Speaking of posters, former IADT student Shane O’Riordan made one dedicated to “Battle of the Bastards,” the stirring ninth episode from this past season. Watch him draw it, time-lapse style, below.
Meanwhile, in a galaxy far, far, away, there was…Throne Wars!
Actually, the project is called Game of Star Wars, and it’s spearheaded by artist Andrew D. Tran. There’s more where this came from on Tran’s website. One more for the road.
Jumping cinematic universes, illustrator and animation student Xenia Rassolova envisioned what the cast members would look like if they appeared in a Tim Burton movie. The results are alternately charming or horrifying, depending on how you feel about Tim Burton movies.
Bran’s emaciated horse might haunt my dreams. Head to Rassolova’s Instagram for more.
Finally, Redditor skeiser posted what he made for his art school graduation project: a gorgeous painting depicting the fight between Robert Baratheon and Rhaegar Targaryen during the Battle of the Trident.
It’s called “Ruby Ford,” and it measures 6 ft by 2 ft. Here it is on display:
Art comes alive.
