New reports out of Spain suggest that three of the upcoming filming locales this month all stand in for the same location–just different areas. Our Spanish sister site, Los Siete Reinos, has a brand new passel of rumors ahead of filming on the beaches of flysch Zumaia. The area, with its striking stone formation, is slated to be used for filming this coming Thursday and Friday, and is closed to the public ahead of time.
One of the reasons this area is so interesting is that the production is using three different beach landing areas for filming over the course of the weeks it in parked here. At first we thought this might be three separate landing scenes , perhaps part of a naval strike by Dany’s forces. But according to LSR, they have it on good authority that actually all three beachheads are part of the same scene, just different angles and shots. As to which scene, well, that we’ll put below the SPOILER ALERT.

LSR does not have this fully confirmed, but they feel strongly enough about what they’ve heard to say that they believe these scenes being filmed on the three Basque beaches, Zumaia, Bermeo and Barrika, are Dany’s landing at Dragonstone. This would make sense as a location for Dany’s fleet to head upon crossing the Narrow Sea, since it was her family’s ancestral home. (We also must assume it’s a short distance and easy sail from Essos, since it’s where the Targaryen family first landed when they escaped the Doom of Valyria.) Dany would need a base of operations once arriving in Westeros. Since no one really wants her to go to Dorne, Stannis and his family are dead, and very few Baratheons servants are probably even in residence, it would be an easy first step to take over it upon setting foot on these shores.
There are also some less confirmed rumors from LSR as well. One is that the production has accidentally caused a bit of damage to the national park. But from what they are hearing, even if it is true, the damage is mostly minor, and can be taken care of by HBO.
The other? Oh, only that Kit Harington is going to be filming at the Basque beaches as well.

Yes, they’re hearing Jon Snow is coming to visit Dany. Now, they state for the record, and very clearly that at this time, they have NO visual confirmation or evidence of these rumors. But LSR doesn’t just print stuff willy-nilly on what source’s say so. So for them to say this is a big deal. We’re going to keep our eyes peeled, for any evidence Harington is indeed in Spain, and let you know if any evidence turns up soon.
