Filming at Almodóvar Begins as the Castle Goes Into Lockdown

Filming for Game of Thrones Season 7 began this morning at Almodóvar castle. Unfortunately this will be another waiting game, as security is “impregnable.” All the Spansih news papers this morning rushed to the scene of the castle of Almodóvar, in hopes of getting a glimpse of actors, or filming, or anything really involved in Game of Thrones Season 7.

Fans waited outside hopefully. But, as Diario Cordoba described the scene, “Lo cierto es que el castillo de Almodóvar se ha convertido desde esta madrugada en un lugar inaccesible e inexpugnable como una fortaleza de la Edad Media.” (The truth is that the castle of Almodóvar has become since this morning in an inaccessible and impregnable as a fortress of the Middle Ages.) Instead it was just endless shots of lorries and vans in the rising sun.

Note that fans have already assumed that yesterday’s flying of the Lannister flag means they are indeed the sight of Casterly Rock. Not a bad place to be, honestly, except for that “mines being empty” thing.

At least the fans were well behaved and did not try to bypass security. The city’s security forces were appreciative of it.

(Roughly translated: “Thanks to the attitude shown by attendees at the @CastilloAlmodov to the filming of #JuegodeTronos. It made everything easier.”)

Over at the *other* castle where Game of Thrones is currently filming, in Trujillo, security is just as tight, as tourists are turned away without being able to see anything.

Meanwhile out in Malpartida de Cáceres, rehearsals continue for the major battle. The hotel reservations for the bulk of the cast reportedly begin tomorrow, so we should see most of the main principles who haven’t already made their way out there arrive.

Meanwhile everyone wants to hang out with this guy and be disapproved of in person.

I’m curious to see how far his disapproving attitude gets him in Season 7. I have a feeling the answer is “not very.”
