Septs, Rebellions, and Little Birds—See more History and Lore videos from the Season 6 box set

History and Lore videos from the Game of Thrones Season 6 Blu-ray box set are cropping up all over. Specifically, YouTuber Mayes T has uploaded a bucketfull. in a Get ’em while they’re hot.

These animated videos explore all the historical minutia of the series the show doesn’t have time to get into. They’re long been a highlight of the Blu-ray box sets, and these are no exception. Let’s kick things off with Littlefinger telling us about the Knights of the Vale.

Little tidbits like the origins of the hill tribes are what make these videos so interesting.

Next, get to the know the family of Ser Arthur Dayne, the great Kingsguard knight whom we saw Ned Stark kill in “Oathkeeper.” Appropriately, the actor who played young Ned Stark—Robert Aramayo—narrates this video.

Dawn sounds like the badass sword to end all badass sword. I wonder if it’ll show up on TV.

Next, Randyll Tarly (James Faulkner) tells us about House Tarly.

Yeesh, Randyll just sounds worse and worse. That bit about making Sam dress up in women’s clothes to shame him is particularly brutal. No wonder he stole the family’s ancestral sword.

The Brotherhood Without Banners returned in Season 6, so naturally, it gets the History and Lore treatment, narrated by Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye).

Here’s a nice reminder that more people than just the Hound have grudges against the Mountain.

The High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) tells us the history of the Sept of Baelor, currently a craggy hold in the ground.

I enjoy how the High Sparrow has mixed feelings regarding the grandeur of the Sept. He seems to like the idea of the statues of the gods awing people, but doesn’t approve of the extravagance.

Next, here’s one of the better History and Lore videos on offer in this box set: Jaime Lannister’s recounting of Robert’s Rebellion.

We get lots of interesting details here regarding Jaime and Cersei’s early relationship. Oh, Cersei, already a schemer in your teens.

Here’s another good one: Grandmaester Pycelle (Julian Glover) and Qyburn (Anton Lesser) argue about the virtues of Oldtown.

Comedy and information, a winner combination.

Jorah Mormont (Iain Glen) narrates a couple of videos, one about the history of the Dothraki in general and one about Vaes Dothrak specifically.

Should they have gotten a Dothraki character to read this stuff? There are already subtitles.

Newcomer Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) also narrates a few videos, including one on the Old Way of the Iron Islands, and one on the Kingsmoot.

Euron sounds nicely crazy here. He also narrates a video on the Summer Sea, filling us in on places like the Summer Isles, Ibben, and the Basilisk Isles.
