Back during his presidential campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly promised that he would build a massive wall on the US-Mexico border. Last month, the government asked for proposals from companies to build a prototype wall, and the responses came pouring in.
One of them came from Florida architect Keith Briggs, who submitted a 10-page proposal to build a “phenomenally imposting and virtually impenetrable wall” modeled after the Wall from Game of Thrones. After all, as Briggs points out, “It is by far the most popular and effective wall in existence. There is simply no wall as popular as this wall.”
An excerpt from his pitch:
[A]n 800-foot tall dihydrogen monoxide and aggregate solid concrete wall along our southern wall would beat the Westeros design and truly represent our country’s magnificent strength, manufacturing prowess, and vast intelligence. There is nothing that says prowess and intelligence like an 800-foot tall di-hydrogen monoxide concrete wall through a hundred-mile-wide unpopulated desert.
Dihydrogen monoxide, of course, is a fancy word for water, so Briggs really does want to build the wall out of honest-to-god ice.

Obviously, Briggs is having some fun here, but he does show by way of analogy how building a own version of the Wall could effectively protect the country’s southern border:
By description, [the Wall] has prevented the overrun of Westeros by an irreligious band of violent white-walkers. These illegal aliens have attempted to invade Westeros multiple times. The devastation and depravity of these illegal aliens exceed even the immoral aggressions of ISIS. By all accounts, the wall has been the only thing which has protected Westeros from violent takeover.
Unfortunately, it appears that the wall is not currently being adequately supported. Too few Night’s Watch (the equivalent of our ICE) have been available to patrol and defend the wall. Recent efforts to naturalize aliens from across the border have resulted in excessive violence at the wall and appear to have only increased the likelihood of a white walker breakthrough.

He also suggests building castles along the border wall, about 30 miles apart, the first to be named Castle Black.
So this is a joke proposal, but Briggs told The USA Today Network that there’s a more serious intent behind it. Clearly not a fan of the border wall idea, Briggs’ organization — called Makin’ Hay — plans to make an app that will allow people to legally deluge government agencies with plans like this. “If you cannot stop hate, overwhelm it,” is the groups’ slogan.
Construction on the prototype wall is scheduled to begin in June — after that, the plan is to choose one design and build a massive version along the border. Don’t expect the Wall to be among the finalists.
