Game of Thrones Picks Up Three Webby Awards!

Game of Thrones Season 7 Premiere Date Announcement

The winners of the 21st annual Webby Awards were announced today, and – unsurprisingly – Game of Thrones topped the voting in all three of its nominated categories! There are two awards given in each category – The Webby Award and The Webby People’s Voice Award. Members of the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) select the nominees and choose the winners for The Webby Awards. The Webby People’s Voice is awarded by the voting public.

In the category of Best Overall Social Presence, IADAS selected National Geographic for the Webby with Game of Thrones picking up the People’s Voice Award:

  • National Geographic’s Social Presence – Winner
  • Game of Thrones – Winner
  • NASA’s Cassini Mission Social Media
  • The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon/Social Experience
  •  Old Spice Social

In the category of Online Film & Video: Unscripted (Branded), the Webby went to A New Hero: The Rise of College ESports with Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards Featurette winning the People’s Voice:

  • A New Hero: The Rise of College ESports (Schiefer Chopshop) – Winner
  • Game of Thrones: Battle of the Bastards Featurette (HBO) – Winner
  • Plastics Make It Possible – Hudson (Ogilvy)
  • Buy Back the Block (Fitzgerald & Co)
  • Converse Wear Tests – 13th Witness (Decon)

In the category of Advertising & Media: Best Event, Google Escape took the Webby and HBO’s Art the Throne won the People’s Voice:

  • Google Escape (We Are Social) – Winner
  • Art the Throne (HBO, AGW Group, and Mass Appeal) – Winner
  • A Table to End Hunger – (McCann Sydney)
  • Finger Licking Good (Ogilvy & Mather Group HK)
  • 29 Rooms – (Refinery29)

Awards will be presented on May 16, 2017 and will be hosted by comedian and actor Joel McHale (The Soup, Community). You can watch the broadcast at webbyawards.com.
